Just finished the latest job. I had to make a cow's heart that would look like a heart even covered with dripping blood. An actress needs to take big bites of it XD Instead of going for anatomically accurate I wanted to do a kind of caricature of a heart, exaggerate the things that make it recognizable. I did the sculpt in WED Clay, then made a food grade silicone mold in two parts and painted the fatty white and darker stripes of muscle tissue inside the mold with colored Knox gelatin. when that set up a bit I put the mold together and poured it with a mid tone red gelatin. I added some cherry jello just for some flavor. The white fatty bits are made by folding in flour to the Gel.

Wow, very nicely executed, and tasty too.
Mind if I ask a few questions?

How long will it hold up for? without refridgeration I mean.
Without the Blood is the heart sticky to touch? Any special handling needed?
Will we be able to see a final version with all the blood, bits, and stage/set lighting etc. ? I'd really like to see final version if its allowed.

Thanks for sharing your work and talent, awesome job.

hmm, I don't know, I would think a day or so, but if you just keep it in a cooler when not in use it would last much longer. It's not sticky, feels just like thick Jello and doesn't take any special anything :) I just made the piece, so I wont see the final bloody mess until the show comes out, it's for Stevie-TV that just started on VH-1
