Steamwatch #3 by TimBakerFX Steamwatch #3 by TimBakerFX
I just have to shoot a few more tiny swords and I will officially open my Etsy store. I plan to make Steampunk blank books, goggles, and gadgets of other sorts as well. I hope these shots show what this first piece really looks like. My work table is piled with all kinds of crazy brass bits :)

This piece has functioning watch, compass, sextant, telescope and sundial all built in.

This is truly amazing! How did you get the brass to develop such patina and rust? It's beautiful. Especially the green parts.

I use some chemical patina causing products. you can get blue and green patinas, rust and deep bronze. A lot of what I do is just paint too... mixing real with painted texture and colors

May I ask how did you do it? Is it paint or did you react it?

sure, chemical patina, it causes rapid changes in the surface of the metal. I also will use paint later on, just been a bit busy lately :)

looking forward to checking out the store. Wonder if you thought about putting a dayplanner into the steampunk books? Be the envy of all the boring office folk, "O here, let me check my schedule, in my WAY Wicked Awesome Planner!" ;p well that'd be what I'd be saying anyway :)
