Hieronymus Bosch and me

The trailer for Crazy Eyes just came out...a film I worked on a while back. I had to produce a 60inch wide painting of Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights for a museum scene. I scanned a photo and blew it way up, over 100x the original. Then I went in and added resolution. I spent about two days re-drawing and cleaning up everything. the last stage was putting the cracks back in the old paint. I plotted it on canvas with a big plotter and then painted on top of that with plotter inks, water colors and acrylics to get to look more painterly. I was really happy with the way it turned out. I just remember the directer saying "its not green enough" that was about it pretty normal XD
